Wat Pak Nam – Private Canal Tour
As a visitor to Bangkok, taking a canal tour is a must to experience the city from a unique perspective. Join our private longtail boat tour to see life along the canals and understand how locals historically used these waterways as a transport route.
Unlike typical tours, our private tour ensures a cosy atmosphere without crowds, allowing you to explore the colorful canals authentically. On the klongs, you’ll observe local life, including small boats with market vendors selling souvenirs and traditional goods.
This is not just mass tourism—by following the right route, our tour offers an authentic Bangkok boat tour experience that showcases the vibrant culture and daily life along the waterways.
Wat Khun Chan – Unique Temple on Khlong Dan
Wat Khun Chan is one of the most beautiful temples along Khlong Dan, featuring a reclining Buddha on the canal, supported by three large elephants, with the black Rahu beneath. Its design and scale make it unique in Thonburi.
According to Indian mythology, Rahu became immortal after Lord Vishnu cut off his head with a discus. Placed in the sky, Rahu pursues the sun and moon to take revenge, which explains solar and lunar eclipses. Offerings to Rahu are traditionally black, following this ancient legend.
Dao Khanong – Life Along the Canal
During the tour through Dao Khanong, you’ll see market women selling local goods, supporting their families. Whether you buy souvenirs is up to you. Along the way, enjoy opportunities to taste traditional Thai dishes and admire temples built directly on the Klong.
You may spot monitor lizards basking in the sun, and our boat will get as close as possible for great photos. Stops are also made so you can feed the fish in the temple areas, where they are abundant and protected for religious reasons.
Life on the Canal
Along the canals, you may see an elderly woman painting coffins with gold, or watch small boats being moored and loaded at the salt factory—both perfect for photography enthusiasts.
As you pass, observe the simple wooden homes of local families, giving insight into daily life and social contrasts. Despite modest living conditions, the people are cheerful and resilient. Depending on the weather and time of day, you may see women washing clothes by hand or children bathing in the canal, enjoying the cool water.
This tour offers a genuine glimpse into life along Bangkok’s historic waterways, far beyond typical tourist experiences.
Plants and Animals – Scenic River Views
After about an hour on the Klong, the tour leads back to the Chao Phraya River. On the way, you’ll pass the historic Wichai Prasit Fort, with its white walls and cannons, which once served as a checkpoint for incoming ships. Behind it lies King Taksin’s old Grand Palace.
As we move to the middle of the river, you’ll see one of Thailand’s most iconic landmarks: Wat Arun. Our boat takes you to the perfect position for full-view photography, providing an enchanting sight that you will never forget.
